Gemini, a cryptocurrency exchange, has reported two separate security incidents that led to phishing campaigns aimed at its users in Europe and the UK. According to an email sent to customers and seen by The Block, both incidents were the result of breaches involving third-party vendors used by Gemini. In the first incident, malicious actors obtained personal information such as names, email addresses, and partial phone numbers of certain Gemini customers.
The information was accessed through the vendors. In the second breach, hackers used phishing tactics to obtain login information for the Gemini platform from employees of third-party vendors. This allowed them to gain access to customer information such as names, email addresses, and partial phone numbers.
